View Full Version : Did you Take Your Supplements Month?!

Okay, I'm getting the knack (sort of) of the diet I need to stick to and getting my exercise sorted but WHY can't I remember to take my supplements each day???
My intentions are to take:
1 x GTF chromium with every meal
1 x kelp tablet each morning
1 x multi vit and amino acid every day
and a St John's Wort and Evening Primrose Oil capsule each day
and a silica tablet for my hair oh and Saw Palmetto
Well okay, that is why I don't remember!! I take too many, lol!
But I want to try to take every single supplement for every day during February.
One month. All my supplements. And see if I really do notice any difference.
Is there anyone else who keeps failing to take their supplements want to just check in every day throughout Feb and then see if they notice any difference after the 4 weeks?
Well I don't have NEAR as many to remember as you! I can't remember, though. I only take a multi-vitamin and my Metformin ER. I'll join.

I need to remember to take my multi and Vit C 1000mg w/rose hips daily. I want to make sure I dont get sick again so I MUST take the new Vit C pill.

Well...I take my Gluc. XR, my Vitex, and I am supposed to take my B+ complex, but constantly forget it!
This will be a GREAT challenge for me!

I have lots of stuff I'm supposed to be taking and/or using every day and I just can't/won't do it! So I think I'll take one thing at a time and tackle it. I'm starting with my daily psyllium fiber supplement called "Perdiem" which I have to take (doctor's orders) but I can never seem to remember.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets these things!
Gah.
I did find one place that I could stick my vitamins and remember to take them every day. By the computer.
Not neccessarily the best place for them. But it works.

I do the same thing with my daily medications (tenormin, maxzide, zocor, metformin) and it really works for me too since I get on the computer to check out different forums and my e-mails several times a day.
However, I have a bigger challenge with my Perdiem (fiber supplement). Although I've been keeping it by the computer also, I have not been very successful 'forcing' myself to take it every day. There are several stumbling blocks I have identified and most of them have to do with timing:
* It's better for me if I take my Perdiem before I eat and not with a meal or right after.
* I have to make sure I take it at least FOUR HOURS before and/or after any other medications I take, and I take these meds in the morning AND at night.
So, I really have a very small window in the late afternoon to take my Perdiem. If I forget or I am not home at just about 4 p.m. one day, then I have to skip it and try again the next day.
My other hangup is the fact that I just don't like to take it. I hate putting all those granules on my tongue and washing them down with a full glass of water. It's MUCH better than the metamucil and citrucel I've tried since I don't have to mix it in the water and choke it down, but I still don't enjoy it.
So there's my big list of excuses! :D
Now, I just have to get over it and DO IT anyway! Are we just going to use this thread every day to check in? Today is the first, so this will be our first check-in day, right? I'm looking forward to getting a handle on this since it's so important to my health. Thanks again for thinking of this challenge.

I think I'll opt out of this one. I take my supplements so regularly that I even carry small containers with me so that I have them if I eat out.
But I want to encourage those who are doing this challenge. It's great to do something to help you to remember to take them regularly. Vitamins and herbs can do so much for our health and well being.

I have not taken my fiber supplement (Perdiem) since Saturday. :( I really have to come up with a system to help myself remember this. The real obstacle is that I have such a short window every day to take it. If I don't remember it around 4 or 5 p.m. then I have to skip it until the next day since it will interfere with the absorption of my prescription medications. I've tried putting it next to my computer and putting it near where I exercise. Maybe I need to set an alarm for 4 p.m. every day? :rolleyes:

Monday (2/16/04) was the only day I missed my multivitamin, so I'm doing well on that. I just have it sitting next to my morning medications so I always remember it. I'm still having a very difficult time with the fiber supplement though. Gotta figure out a strategy that's going to work for me on that one...
EDIT: Okay, I've still been continuing to get my multivitamin in every day with no problems. I recently moved my Perdiem (fiber supplement) back to my computer, and I finally remembered to take it last night!! Woo Hoo!! One day down, a million more to go! :p

I started a challenge and didn't do it myself, tut tut :rolleyes:
I have been taking my kelp but I really need to get back to taking all of my supplements.
Slap on the wrist for me and a "must try harder"

missed two days this week....got back on the band wagon tonite...i also take other meds that are not supplements but are vital to my overall health

as you can see i take a lot of pills and sometimes i opt out of a few if i am feeling ok for the day, which is not a good idea with antidepressants, so i will add these to my list so that i can try to get them all in this next week.

I'm so proud of myself that I managed to take all my supplements (all 9 of them) plus the medication my dr. just prescribed to me, during my weekend trip. I was gone from Thursday through Sunday and I took them everyday! Yeah for me:D

I took my multi everyday except for 2!
I'm pretty impressed with myself, it's the most consistant I've been EVER!
