Welcome to the exercise newbies challenge! If you're a new newbie, you can view the original thread here (http://www.fitatanysize.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=4464#post4464). But basically all you need to know is what this challenge is about.

To help you get started on an exercise program and into the habit of regular workouts, the challenge is to do at least 10 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. It can be any form of exercise - whatever you're comfortable with.

Our current challengers are:

Snoopy24 (Me!)
Magz
Jay
Ajani

Newcomers welcome! Just join in and give us daily updates on your progress. We're here to support you!!!!

I'm here. I only exercised with my ball or rebounder 3 times last week, but AF arrived, and I felt pretty icky on Thursday and part of Friday. I did go bowling Friday night and walked around a mall on Saturday for a bit. My eating got off track, though, so I'm up 2lbs so far this week.

I couldn't figure out where I'm suppose to post, so I'm guessing I'm in the right spot. :o

Yesterday, (Sunday) I walked thirty minutes in the park.

Today, I did the same thing, but went about ten steps further than yesterday.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring, cuz there's a weather front coming in and my fm/cfs is starting to kick in. But I'm still going to try for at least 10 min tomorrow!

Being accountable to y'all is a big kick in the rear!! :D

I got in my 15 minutes today. I also did the 3 mile WATP. I REALLY wanted to be a slug today! I had to MAKE myself get off that couch. I'm glad I did!

Welcome Nettie! :) Sounds like you're off to a good start!

I did 15 minutes today, but boy did I procrastinate about it. I was kind of in a bad mood all day, and just didn't want to have to do it, plus I had a bunch of other stuff I really needed to get done tonight.

I'm starting to feel like I need a kick in the butt.

I didn't exercise yesterday (see my journal), but I will today. I have to. I've been sleeping late and not working out. I need to get back on track!

I just did 30 minutes on the treadmill!!! I did various speeds between 2.0, and 2.5! And I used the incline at various times throughout, at 2 incline.

I did 15 minutes of freeform ball work, arm work and ab work, plus some lunges. I am also on glass #3 of 4 of water.

I measured myself too. Check out my challenge page to see the results! :D :D :D

Feelin' the effects of the last two days! :D

I did 22 min. w/Leslie Sansone (WATP) and five minutes of stretching. Hmmmmm...wonder if I can count plowing through the forest of hair growing on my legs....that took about 20 min! :D

Shaving hair that's long enough to braid definitely counts as exercise. All that bending and twisting...;) . I say count it! lol

I did 20 minutes on the bike after the 2 mile WATP tape.

I got 15 minutes in again today.

I agree....I think shaving your legs (especially if you have a "winter crop" to get rid of) should definitely count as exercise! When I think of all the ways I have to bend/contort myself to reach all sides of my leg, it is definitely a workout! :D I haven't done it in about 6 weeks :o and I've been putting it off now the last few days.

Ajani - Congrats on your loss!!!

You guys are too funny!! Whenever I want to make myself feel better I "lose" a couple of pounds by shaving my legs. We should get some type of certificate for the different positions we have to get into to reach all that hair. :D

btw, good job everyone, we've made it another day!!

I don't normally shave my legs in winter. I like the extra insulation. LOL! :D

I did about 20 minutes of aerobics today. I forgot about a video that I have. It's really terrible, fashion-wise. 5 very overweight women in 80's Flashdance/Fame style spandex workout gear, complete with the scrunched down socks, all bouncing to the beat. But the basics moves and all are fine. I did the warm up, 2 out of 3 of the cardio sections and the cool down.

BUMP

Come on. Am I the only one who exercised today? I did more freeform work, including my abs, legs, and arms. I also did some stretching. I'm still considering going out for a walk.

But I promise I will be back!

You'll be back? I didn't think you ever left!!! :p

Tonight is a great TV night. I watch Extreme Makeover and ER. Maybe you could jog during the commercials. :D

Yesterday, I just couldn't exercise. BUT...

today I did a 30 minute "Stress & Anxiety" workout tape. Now I'm beat.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder that ER is on tonight.

I got in my 15 minutes on Wednesday. For Thursday I plan on 20 minutes, probably during Survivor.

Did 30 minutes on the treadmill!! I did it during the last half of survivor!!! It's totally easy to do when you are watching something you like!

Besides I told myself, no treadmill, no watching the second half of survivor!:D ;)

I've been a very bad girl.. :(

I haven't done anything for two nights. It's just been sort of crazy. At work we are moving offices this week so that's kind of been a fiasco. Last night I knew I wouldn't be working out because I went to my parents' house after work, but tonight I ended up being gone also so I missed it twice in a row.

Oh well, tomorrow I WILL be back to normal. I will I will I will.

Silly me. I overstretched my hips yesterday, and I'm feeling it now. I need to remember that flexibility comes with patience, not by force.

Today I think I'll do some light stuff. No aerobics or bouncing. Maybe just some arm work and light (!) stretching.

Magz
02-21-2004, 09:42 PM
OH the shame! I only did 10 minutes on Thursday! I didn't do ANY exercise (no bike, no WATP) on Friday or Saturday. :o Sunday isn't going to be my day off now...

Did 20 minutes of walking outside today!!! 40 minutes I have to do tomorrow to reach my goal:(

It's been a couple of days since I posted so I'll try to fill in the gaps.

Friday, I didn't exercise per se, we had dr's apts, and did our taxes (which definitely got my heart rate up anyway). :)

Yesterday, we went to the state park trout hatchery and walked around there for a couple of hours, feeding the fish, watching for the bald eagles, etc. It was nice.

Today, I'm planning on going for a walk with dh later. Hoping to go for at least 20 min.

Yesterday(sunday) was another 20 minutes of walking! I took it easy for the last 3 days nursing my sore knee! I am 20 minutes shy of my goal of 180 minutes of exercise for the week, but i'm ok with that. I think my knee is feeling pretty good, so my goals should be a little easier to reach this week.

hey guys, I know it's a bit late, but can I join in? so far I have been exercising in some way everyday of the week. yesterday i took a break and spent some time with some friends and their baby....scared to death that since i missed one day it will be easier to miss another, but sometimes you just need a break....balance is so hard for me....tonite i am going to my first official water aerobics class, it lasts an hour so it should be a pretty good workout...

Welcome Jenn! Glad to hear you're starting the water aerobics class! Have fun!

Yesterday (sunday) I managed to walk for 20 minutes, then we played on the playgroud equipment like little kids for about 15 min. It was fun.

Think I'm going to do WATP today and try lifting light weights.

Or maybe I'll just clean my house--that should be a great workout!! :D
