BY NATALIE BOGAN

By combining smarter snacking and a healthier lifestyle, Aimee went from 228 pounds to 136
pounds
My turning point: When my brother and his fiancée asked me to be in their wedding, I knew I needed to lose weight. I wanted to look better on their special day than I did on my own.

My slim-down techniques: I drank a lot of water and ate a healthy breakfast every day. Plus, I used Weight Watchers’ points system to manage my diet.

Kept the weight off: Three years.

My best motivator: The desire to be thin and healthy—especially since heart disease runs in my family.

My greatest temptation: Anything with salt, like peanuts and chips. Pretzels were my biggest downfall. Now, I don’t eat as many snacks as I used to, but I don’t totally deny myself either.

My favorite diet food: One of my staples is a vegetable soup with cabbage, green beans, zucchini, carrots, onions and chicken broth. I make it by the vat and freeze it.

My snacking tips: Munch on carrots and fat-free pretzels.

My exercise routine: I run a lot. Last year, I ran a half-marathon and finished in two hours and 16 minutes. This year, I’m preparing for a full marathon. When I’m not training, I run three miles a day, four times a week.

Slim-down advice: Don’t get discouraged if you gain a pound.

The payoff: I used to be embarrassed to buy clothes, especially when I was with my thin friends. Now that I have confidence, I love to shop!

This was very motivating! I clicked on this article because we have the same name. I also love salty snacks like preztels (chips and salsa are my downfall though), and I am also currently in weight watchers. Its hard to stay motivated a stick with it--but I really liked your advice (Don't be discouraged if you gain a pound)--bc I did gain a pound this week and felt like a complete failure. I also am currently training for a half marathon! Thanks for the motivation! image
